The Englewood Rising Billboard project was a community-led campaign created and paid for with funds raised by Englewood residents and activists to showcase Englewood’s everyday beauty countering its damage-centered narrative. Each month from April 2017 to March 2018, a different collection of Englewood images were featured on five billboards with Tonika Johnson’s photography as the centerpiece.
