The mid-length, theatrical adaptation of Folded Map’s origin story debuted Friday, January 18, 9:30pm part of COLLABORACTION’s performance series, Encounter. The play features vignettes of Tonika’s childhood in Englewood that led to her observations about Chicago’s segregation while attending Lane Tech College Prep High School on the North Side and during her daily commute there from Englewood. As luck would have it, Chicago theater artist Brighid O’Shaughnessy turned out to be one of Johnson’s North side twins, which spurred this live stage adaptation. Don’t miss this chance to see several stories of the Folded Map twins presented live, on stage, and examine as a community what can be done to bridge the divide in Chicago.
