Tonika Lewis Johnson and her Folded Map, NFP served as a production consultant as well as a community engagement partner for WTTW Chicago’s FIRSTHAND: SEGREGATION series, that explores the impact racial divisions have on individuals, the city, and our region with a documentary series, reported stories, expert talks, and community discussions.

Tonika also participated in this award-winning FIRSTHAND multiplatform, multi-year initiative, as an expert talk where she describes how attending a large, multi-racial Chicago public high school in the '90s taught her empathy, expanded her worldview, and revealed the impacts of segregation…all while giving her lifelong friendships she wouldn’t have had otherwise.
